Active web-surfers have come to rely on Google’s impressive search functionality. Google is the #1 search engine for a reason. It is fast, and more often that not, Google finds what you’re looking for quickly and efficiently.

However, Google has a dark side. Google uses “cookies” to track the activities of web users. Google also records your computer IP and archives the searches you perform and the links you click. If you don’t like that idea, you can use the Scroogle web service. What this does is create a separate IP that hides your computer from Google’s data miners, and prevents the recording of your search terms and search destinations. IE is a very good browser in many respects, but the bad guys just love to hack at it and bombard you with nasty bugs. However, there is a better browser available that’s not subject to all these viruses and attacks. Internet Explorer is the most popular browser that is used for surfing the net today. Users need a secure and reliable internet browser that will not let harmful viruses and spyware invade computers when browsing the interent. The most widely accepted browser as far back as anyone can remember is Internet Explorer. In the browser generation we are now seeing other browsers enter the market like firefox, opera and others. A couple of years ago most folks relied on SpyBot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware for spyware protection. Alas spyware has evolved so quickly that these once outstanding products are no longer up to the task of providing primary protection though they remain useful as secondary, on-demand scanners.

The new generation of malware requires a new generation of defensive products. Such products need to provide stronger active protection and broader spectrum detection. The best anti-spyware programs, WebRoot SpySweeper and Spyware Doctor are both commercial products but there are two capable free products that I can recommend.
